One Challenge

A presidential change is always a major event in U.S. history. A new president means change for many people, changes economically, environmentally, socially and culturally. The change that will mean the most to me is the environmental change that will be imposed by Obama. I have strong feelings towards the environment especially during this harsh time of major global warming.

There will always be injustices in both candidates environmental policies, whether one is against the financial input towards the policy or the actual moral input to the policy. The environment not only effects me but it effects the world population. We as humans only get one earth, and as of now we haven't been taking care of the O-Zone. So what can we as a country do to fix the problem?

Global warming is very evident in the world. The global temperature has gone up almost 1 degree. Although that number seems minimal it in-fact is a very large change. A change in global temperature means ice caps melting which in return means global flooding. The state of Florida alone has been overtaken by an inch of water since 2000. Obama has a policy which promises to reduce emissions by 80% by 2050. I, as a concerned citizen, approve of the policies Barack will hopefully bring to the senate. If Obama does not follow through however, I will need to voice up and hopefully make my voice heard.. but how?

One good way for citizens to make their voice heard is by writting and communitcating with their representives. Representives are in office mainly to speak the minds of the common man and woman. They recieve numerous emails and letters all the time from citizens who want their opnions heard. The more support one has towards their feelings the more likley the Representive will voice that opinion. The whole process begins on a smaller level. It starts with the standard petition and flyering, which helps voices ones opinoin.

As you can see there are many potential problems and positives with a change in office. The one that effects me the most is the evironmental aspect of our lives. Obama does promise change through cleaning the earth and raising awarness, however if he begins to slack I have many options at hand to try to bring change. I can petition or contact my representive. In the end my voice can be heard.
